The sudo command comes with some fun insulting messages when you mistype your password.
In you sshd.conf you need to have “insults” turned on for them to show up.
I started to think that there must be a way to change the insult messages. For instance at home I may want more, non-politically correct insults to come flying my way. Or just more modern and funny things to add to the list of insults. I’m not saying that the insults provided by default are not funny. I just might want to add my own, delete a few and twist some meanings.
SWEET CANADIAN MULLET!
There is a way to make your own changes. You need to find the source code of course.
BOFH tip of the day.
Get latest source version of sudo.
Edit the ins_*.h files in the source to “alter” the default messages to your liking.
Then compile with the options –with-insults –with-all-insults
Make sure to have the insults option “on” in the sshd.conf and have some fun.
I guess I should go compile a new “Cartman” sudo with famous Cartman lines, hey and a Stewie-sudo full of insults. Well maybe just the Cartman, Stewie insults would be too over the top for your average sudo user.
